Kemi Town Hall

Restoration study

  • Location: Kemi, Finland
  • Type: Academic restoration project

The most valuable asset of the town hall is the spirit of the place: it serves the people of Kemi, and that must guide its renovation. As a physical record of time and history, it calls for in-depth analysis before deciding what to conserve.

Use is what renews the building. Multipurpose event spaces, an exhibition area and co-working can be placed without disturbing the original structure, with new and original functions separated by controlled circulation. Cultural events keep the hall relatable and reflect the life of the town.

Project: Value assessment, restoration principles and drawings.
